Marbles Kids Museum opened our doors on September 29, 2007 to kids and kids-at-heart! The crowd was wowed when we unveiled our new name and new exhibits after a suspenseful 24-day transformation that followed the merger of Exploris and Playspace. Opening Day was a super sensation. Why Marbles? A wall that wraps around the museum is filled with more than one million marbles that light up at night. And Marbles is a nickname for brains. At Marbles Kids Museum, kids are encouraged to use their marbles - learning new things through imagination, discovery and play.
Simply put, this innovative museum is about the world. The guest becomes a world and time traveler, getting a glimpse of the history of the Berlin Wall before moving on to a study of the life of Anne Frank. With engaging visuals and video and audio technology, Calypso rhythms in Latin America lead to listening to the sounds of the rainforest and learning about the role we can all play in protecting our planet. Exploris is part history museum, part science center, part cultural center, part children's museum. But there's clearly something here for everyone in the family. An IMAX theater is also located here.
