At the end of the line we stop the train for a few minutes so passengers can admire the beautiful view of the ocean at Kahe Point.
If you have a Thomas the Tank Engine fan in your family, this is a nice Sunday activity. The ride along the west coast of Oahu is filled with nice views, but is a little lengthy. The conductor was very entertaining and kept the ride interesting. If you want a shorter train ride, go to Dole Plantation in Wahiawa.
This place is a sort of popular atraction for small childrens, since currently we do not have any rail system in Hawaii. You can do birthday party there, and they have a Halloween ride ( this one sound very fun to me), however Sunday ride is not too exciting for adults. I rather go often to ride pineapple train at Dole.
Don’t miss a ride on the historic Ewa Beach Railway. Operated by Oahu’s Historic Railway Association, the little train travels the same route used by locomotives during sugar’s heyday. Tracks were laid here in 1889 to carry sugar from the central plains of the island to ships docked at the harbor. When automobiles and trucks arrived, the trains were rendered obsolete and unfortunately were left to rust and decay. Today they have been painstakingly restored, so you’ll feel as if you are one of the plantation workers making the short trek.
Two trips are made every Sunday, at 1:00 and 3:00P.M. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. The narrated ride lasts about ninety minutes.
