I was in town and planned to meet up with some friends. We were hoping to go to the park, but it started raining sideways, and we opted for something indoors. Since nobody had been to the new library, we thought we would go check it out.
The kids section is huge (at least by Eugene standards and compared to the satallite libraries we frequent). It is a really beautiful space with loads of books and different activities. I was disappointed with the lack of toys though (we have been to libraries that really have a nice space to play...this library had a big puzzle box with pegs you get to move around a track and beads you move around the wire, some stuffed animals and we found a couple of puppets by chance). I really liked their special displays set up by kids (they focused on kids and what they collected, but I am guessing they change the theme frequently).
When we entered the kids area, there were 2 dogs there. I guess they have a reading program where kids come in and read to animals. My guy can't get enough of dogs, and that was enough to make him love the library. We missed their family sing along which happened earlier in the morning. They have lots of different activities planned throughout the week by age also.
It was worth checking out if you have some time you need to kill or a place to meet up with friends where you require an indoor activity. If you live in town, it is definitely a great place to take the kids.
