"really fun"

we love this park and even though its quite a way out for us we really like to come here and bring a picnic.  The park is compeletely wooden which is cool - and its right on the river so you can go stand on a look out/ deck - there is also a lot of unique stuff at this park that make it cool for the older kids, rope and challenging things like that

"Perfect setting for a picnic"

The name of this huge outdoor wooden playground, EMPIRE, is an acronym for East Moline Playground Innovation Recreation Efforts. That’s a fancy way of conveying that this was a community effort, built by hundreds of volunteers and financed entirely by donations. It’s really something to be proud of—14,000 square feet of towers, tunnels, bridges, rope ladders, and slides. The official count is “48 play stations.” The park where you’ll find this playground is right on the banks of the Mississippi River. There are picnic tables and two pavilions with electricity, so you can bring lunch or supper to the park—if you can get the kids to stop playing long enough to eat. There’s also a bike path.
