"Peaceful Lighthouse!"

I've been going to Elk Neck State Park since childhood and it has never gotten old.  There are camping sites, both for campers and tents (cabins are available), picnic area, swimming area, boat launch, and about 14 miles of trails.  The famous trail leads down to a lighthouse overlooking the Chesapeake Bay.  The roughly one mile walk to the lighthouse winds along the coast, passes a field for birdwatching, and goes through a lightly wooded area.  At the end of the trail the peaceful lighthouse and bay are completely worth the walk.  During set times the lighthouse is actually available for touring.  It makes a great family trip!

"Elk Neck State Park"

I was looking for an out of the way place for my (5 year old) daughter and I to spend the day.  We "stumbled" on Elk Neck State Park in Cecil County.
Breathtaking.  Quiet.  Perfect.
That's how we would describe it.  We walked. We talked.  We took pictures of beautiful scenery.  We hiked through the woods and came to a beautiful lighthouse.  My daughter is not old enough to go in the light house but that didn't stop us from enjoying a prepacked picnic lunch and spend the afternoon just being.

GO!  Today!  Just go potty first -- the nearest potty is a long way a way! :)

"nice place to spend a day"

the park itself is very secluded and i love that about it but the beauty of the animals and the park is what truely makes it something for every family, i love the birds and the squirles, it is something that is fun for everyone where you can eat a small snack and get some great pictures of the kiddos

"lots to do"

Elk Neck State park is a park with lots to do!  if you like nature and hiking there is plenty for you to do.  We enjoy hiking out to Turkey Point Lighthouse and looking out over the mouth of the water!  There are also beaches and camping and pools.  There are a lot of activities for those that like the outdoors.

"Water Front Park"

ELk Neck State Park offers everything. A small beach, camping, great hiking, lots of wildlife to see. Last time we were there we saw beavers my kids were so excited. The park is right on the chesapeake bay and has a light house you can walk up to and go in at certain time of the day. You can't go wrong visiting this park!
