We love Eddie! I used to nanny and I took the kids here all the time. It's the perfect place to spend a day, there is so much to see and do. I love the art room where kids can be guided through doing crafts, there's a library with tons of books, and there is even a play room for younger toddlers and babies to play. I'm only sad I didn't take my toddler there when we were in South Carolina over the Christmas Holidays :( It IS pricey though, I think $10 a person, and you have to pay for babies.
This museum is really amazing! There are many activities for the children to do. My two and eight year old both enjoyed this museum. They have a grocery store where the kids can pretend to purchase food..They also have a huge boy named "Ed" that is a slide..I would highly recommend taking your children to this museum. This museum is very educational.
As children's museums go, it was pretty good, with a wide variety of subject matter to investigate. I was dissapointed that some of the interactive exhibits had not been kept up properly and were sometimes broken. Kids did not seem to care though, there was still plenty to keep them busy. Not good food options.
I have been to this type of museum before and can say that this one is not worth it. The exhibits are colorful and do peek your kid's interest. However, several of the exhibits were broken when we went and it did not seem like they were going to be fixed anytime soon. The gift shop is very pricey too. We didn't realize this at the time, but if you are a Bank of America customer you can go online a get tickets free to this museum.
EdVenture is the best children's "museum" I have ever been to. My 3 year old daughter absolutely loved this place. There was so much for her to do. Don't miss out on the little art room on the second floor, a moment for them to chill. Skip out on the McDonald's in the basement, it's a little too dreary. Also, this is a free museum on the first of the month for Bank of America customers http://museums.bankofamerica.com/
EdVenture is beside the State Museum (another must see children friendly attraction). Admission is $9 for adults and $7 for children (2-12). Parking is FREE and very accessible. There are more than 350 interactive exhibits. Children can check out a real fire truck, buy groceries, be a farmer, doctor or an engineer for a day; play musical instruments, anchor the news on TV, climb and slide down Big Eddie, navigate the ocean, solve mysteries, study how the body works, and experience other cultures. Sooo much fun! Id say one of the best in the world!
Last summer we drove down to Columbia for a weekend and spent most of a day exploring EdVenture with our three kids! The entire family had a blast!
EdVenture provides children a chance to explore a myriad of exhibits through interactive play and learning. We particularly enjoyede xploring Eddie, the worlds largest child! Eddie is forty-feet tall (sitting down) and the kids get a chance to learn all about his brain, heart, stomach etc... We also loved the Critter Garden and The World of Work.
I took both kids here but my oldest was bored stiff. This is really a great place for younger kids (under 10) to visit. The exhibits are great especially the little grocery store! My son enjoyed filling his basket and pretending to check out. The farm exhibit let him pretend to milk a cow and collect eggs. We'll go back again without the preteen!
When you go to EdVenture there's no way you'll miss "Eddie," the huge 10 year old boy that kids get to climb inside and explore. Kids love him. As well as Eddie, there are fun water activities where kids discover the power of water as well as a grocery store, shrimp boat and much more. My kids definitely enjoyed their time here.
