Take a step back to the Pennsylvania mining way of life in Eckley Miners' Village. Travel through the hundred years of the town's mining history and explore the people, business and ideals that formed this unique area and period of America's history.
Eckley Miners’ Village offers the chance to visit an authentic nineteenth-century “patch” town. The town was originally built in 1854 by the mining firm of Sharpe, Leisenring and Co. for its workers, mostly new immigrants
to the United States. The town, which was restored in the late 1960s for the filming of the movie The Molly Maguires,is now a historic site, administered by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. Throughout the summer season the village holds various special events, including Patch Town Days, a Living History Weekend, and Family Sunday, which features a community picnic typical of the 1800s.
