ECHO features 70 live species, more than 100 interactive experiences, changing and permanent exhibits and seasonal events — all exploring the Ecology, Culture, History, and Opportunity for stewardship of the Lake Champlain Basin.
Other options for dining, all with in walking distance, are Skinny Pancake, Splash at the Boathouse (seasonal) and Burlington Bay. After that a walk on the bike path and your day is complete!
Out of the 100 interactive experiences ECHO has, my kids always go back to the Water Table and the frog cases....Trying to find the frogs is fun for us all. The ECHO staff is amazing and it is a great place to spend a rainy day or bring friends from out of town. Show off another fantastic VT experience.!
Fishes, turtles, birds...oh my! Traveling exhibits are a great way to start your tour downstairs at ECHO. There's always something new at ECHO. The exhibits upstairs focus on Lake Champlain and the animals, birds & fish that call the basin home. Knowledgeable docents and hands on exhibits make for a great learning experience for children of all ages.
Great downtown location with something for everyone. If you are looking to spend a few hours with your own kids or want to educate out of town guests about our Lake Champlain Basin, ECHO is good indoor day crowd-pleaser. From the water table to the weather station kids love the hands-on activities. Downstairs there is a changing exhibit room that always has something cool, yet educational. Even the cafe teaches kids about being green and how to recycle. Be sure to check the calendar, they always have story times, science crafts and more going on.
