Now a National Historic Landmark, East Broad Top Railroad once carried coal and other raw materials. At present it is the most complete and authentic rail site in
North America.
Board the train at Orbisonia Station for a ride on the only narrow-gauge railroad in the East still running at its original site. The narrated train ride takes about fifty minutes and carries you past countryside that is virtually unchanged since the days when East Broad Top Railroad transported coal along these tracks. If you like, bring
along a picnic lunch. You can get off at Colgate Grove, picnic, and go back on a later train. There are no restrooms or concessions on the train. Riders using wheelchairs are encouraged to call ahead so arrangements can be made.
Every year during Columbus Day weekend, railroad buffs come from all over the United States to East Broad Top’s Fall Spectacular. For this event all four locomotives
operate at once, and scheduled shop tours are available.
