This is a truly one of a kind place that every NYC family should visit before heading back home.
Dylans Candy Bar is a great place for the candy lover. It is set up neatly and very well organized. My only wish was that we had more time to spend there.
We allowed the kids to each pick out candy from the sale rack as Christmas had just passed. They had fun with the Christmas novelties and the chocolate fountain on the main floor. The staff was great and noticed are arms were overflowing with candy and gave us a basket!!!!
We took the Stairway to Candy Heaven downstairs to even more candy. What we enjoyed about the lower level was the number of nostalgic candies they had there. I introduced my kids to Fruit Stripe Gum and Bags of Gold Gum. My Mom found Teaberry gum and Sen Sen mints.
We had fun talking to the kids about 2 older generations of candy shopping.
If you have kids that like candy. (who doesn't)...make a quick stop.
Dylan's Candy Bar is heavenly for candy-lovers! There are three floors--the top one has a bakery. We thought the frozen hot chocolate was bland, but the cookies and cupcakes are delicious! The main floor has dozens of different kinds of candy in bins that go clear up the walls, such as gummy bears, rock crystal candy, etc. in more flavors than you can imagine. Downstairs, they sale all kinds of specialty candies, their freshly-made fudge (also very yummy), and even clothing and lotions. This is a really fun place to pick up some treats and souvenirs!
WOW I mean how could you not want to go inside this store once you pass by it? I think everyone I know loves this store - not just kids its great! The store is filled with color & tons of candy - any & every type of candy I can think of - soft, hard, pink, big, small hehe it's in this store trust me...the kids will love it & probably think they can have it all...it's like a candy dream!
My experiences with my family at Dylan's Candy Bar have only been fantastic. I don't expect anything else from them. They have the best variety of candy I have ever seen and have so many specialty kinds that I don't even think that I could ever try them all. I make sure to stop in with the kids every time I'm around and would recommend the same to you! Not only would you please the kids, you'd be pleased yourself sue to the quality of the candy and the affordability of it.
Beware....your sweet tooth will begin to tingle and if your aren't careful your credit card will begin to groan. My biggest parent tip on this stop is set some boundaries BEFORE stepping foot inside. That being said...this place is great!
I felt like I had stepped inside Willie Wonka's chocolate factory. The wallpaper was a candy design, the stairs were candy inlayed, and the wallpaper in the bathroom reminded me of the lickable wallpaper from the movie. Of course when I saw a Scrumdiliumptious candy bar with the chance to win a golden ticket it went right into my cart.
They have a wonderful variety of items, including hard to find items. There were a ton of items from my childhood that I hadn't seen in many years! I introduced these to my son and these were what we came home with as our sweet treats. Nothing was priced as it was back in the good ol' days though. Prices are NOT clearly marked and when you get to the cashier you may want to cry at the prices.
They have loose candy you can purchase by the pound that had varieties I've never seen before such as gummy teeth. This comes with a hefty price tag though of $12 a pound so don't set the kids loose here!
They have a very large chocolate fountain and for an affordable price ($1-$2) you can choose a treat such as a pretzel, marshmallow, strawberries, pineapple, etc. to dip into the chocolate. My son loved that he was able to do the dipping!
There is also a cafe/bakery on the 3rd floor. We didn't venture up but it seemed a popular place.
Chocoholic lurking in your family? Sweet tooth? Then this is a must see, must do. But be prepared to drop some coin or have the strength to say "no", "nope", "enough already". You are surrounded by candy, candy, candy and trinkets that involve candy. Don't get me wrong. This was a fun 45 minutes with my daughter. She practically plowed over some kid to get to the 3-tiered chocolate fountain to dip her marshmallow in (choose from various items - $1 each). It was a total Willy Wonka moment. But then we had to pick a souvenir tin and fill it (small, med, large) with candy. Plus we had to get a few old fashioned candy bars and so on....I think you get the idea :)
This place is great for candy fans! My niece was in heaven there. There is so much variety and special candies there. It's great that it is free, at least until you buy the candy. It is now the world's largest candy store, so I would definitely stop by while sightseeing in NYC.
This place is a candy lover's and hence every child's dream come true. It is colorful and has the most delightful assortment of candy ever! Bring a child to delight them or take some candy home for them from here as an amazing surprise. The owner (Dylan Lauren) has also started a bath and body line with candy flavors which are also sold here! A great tween gift!
This is a great candy store they sell specialized candy - dylan brand - as well as nostalgic candy. My daughter loves exploring the different displays and stairs made from candy is definitely a place to go and see. Has offerings for all ages and they have everything to satisfy your sweet tooth.
Fun candy store on the Upper East Side! It's owned by Ralph Lauren's daughter, Dylan. The sugar saturated environment spills out into the happy, hyper, happy songs over the stereo system and the Upper East Side mini-gossip girls running around the shop.
Easy access via subway line to Lex and E59th. The store is at Third and E60th.
Heaven for candy lovers, big and small! Dylan's Candy Bar is a superize candy store (we're talking three floors) across from Bloomingdale's in Upper East. I went with my college roomate and had a field day with the giant bins of every candy imaginable, and I loved the candy built into the stairs.
