This chronological exhibit on drugs in America spans more than 150 years and is heavy on photographs, but kids will be interested in the items on display about such cultural icons as Coca-Cola, which contained cocaine until 1903 and was advertised as a medicine that would “ease the tired brain,” or Bayer Aspirin, whose precursor was Bayer Heroin, advertised as “highly effective against coughs.” There’s a literture rack just for kids, with brochures about the museum and information on the dangers of drug use.
