Heading up Route 8 toward Titusville, stop at the Drake Well Museum, where EdwinDrake drilled the first oil well and launched the petroleum industry in 1859. Here you’ll find exhibits, videos, historic buildings, and operating oil machinery. Kids canmake plastic, enjoy the fire-engine display, and blow the steam whistle in the full-size replica of Drake’s engine house. Have fun “feeding” the horses in the oil transporta-tion exhibit, but watch out for the nitro explosion! Trails in adjacent Oil Creek State Park provide great hiking, and there’s a picnic pavilion.
