Downtown Palm Springs has shopping, restaurants, theatres, and special events for families to enjoy. Walk along the "Palm Springs Walk of Stars" and look for famous names, stop at fountains, enjoy sweets from stores, and visit museums and art galleries. The Forever Marilyn statue will be on display until June 2013.
We had a great time walking through downtown Palm Springs and visiting restaurants and shops. Our kids jumped from star to star on the "Palm Springs Walk of Stars" and although they didn't find Harrison Ford (the one movie star they know), I saw several I recognized and enjoyed.
It's very difficult to miss the impressive "Forever Marilyn" statue on the corner of Tahquitz and Palm Canyon Drive as it is 26 feet high and quite striking. Of course, we were curious about that flying dress and it felt a bit funny to stand right underneath it... and it made for some good laughs between us all.
Our favorite dinner was at Bill's Pizza on S. Indian Canyon Dr. and yet we enjoyed Ruby's another evening, Sees Candy, a fantastic Hat Shop, and some delicious frozen yogurt. The Aqua Caliente Museum was closed but we enjoyed looking in the windows of the old General Store next door.
It's a great place to spend a day, evening, weekend, or afternoon with family.
