The Downtown Aquarium in Houston has 200 species of aquatic life, a full-scale restaurant, alligators, snakes, and even a white tiger. There's also a carousel and ferris wheel for a bit of indoor amusement.
This place is small and overpriced. Admission cost covers only basic admission. Almost all of the fun stuff that draws you in costs extra. If you enjoy looking, but not doing, then this may be worthwhile. For all others, expect to pay out the nose to make an enjoyable experience.
Definitely my highlight is touching the sharks and stingrays. Very neat!! The white tiger exhibit is very nice but we rarely ever see them up and moving. The rest of the exhibits are great and are worth visiting. As for the restaurant, it's very delicious and has something to please everyone. I recommend the Shark Attack for dessert. You won't be disappointed!
We visited the Downtown Aquarium with our kiddos. We had a blast! Be sure to take the train ride -- it is very cool. The ferris wheel ride is a must too, because it allows you to see downtown Houston in a different way (up high!). They have a water feature in the summer where the kiddos can play and cool off. Lots of fun!
Not many things are easy to find in Houston but this was. Directions were easy to follow and street signs were good. What a great place. We loved walking through the tunnel with sharks swimming above us. Looking forward to going again. Didn't try the diner there but it smelled amazing.
Aquarium, restaurant, merry go round and shopping all in down town houston. Hours of fun for young and older kids.
