Running model trains in the store are fun for kids of all ages.
this cute ice cream pallor was a short drive from pismo beach. we stopped here after having eaten a "linner" or lunch-dinner at the Cracked Crab and playing on the beach for about an hour. the menu was extensive and fortunately most if not all of their sundaes come in 4 sizes.... my 4 year old didn't finish his mini and even the 12 year olds had problems finishing the juniors. the dog even got a delicious doggy ice treat for 2.5$. it was pricey... 38$ for 3 jr. sundaes, 1 mini, 1 regular and 1 single scoop cone. as promised, my littlest loved the roving model train.
As a kid, I loved first getting pizza across the street at Klondike's Cafe, then heading to Doc Burnstein's. As an adult, it's still just as fun. Doc Burnstein's is designed to be more like an old fashioned ice cream parlor, with a train going around the outside upper edges of the wall, old wooden floors, and a hometown feel. The ice cream is yummy and they offer other deserts and goodies as well. If you're in Arroyo Grande, you have to visit them! Your kids will love it and so will you! :)
Their ice cream is the B E S T!!!!! It is seriously SOOOOOOO delicious; I promise you will be back often!! The atmosphere is also very kid-friendly, great to host a young child's birthday at even. They have a wide variety of different treats. Enjoy and have fun!!
On our last trip we spotted this "new" business and had to check it out! We loved it! Yummy flavors, the "Lab" was clean and all of the staff was very nice! Our son made sure that we stopped by the "lab" before we left home for another scoop of his favorite, bubblegum.
Doc Burnstein's Ice Cream Lab in Arroyo Grande is our favorite place to get ice cream! They carry such a wide variety of flavors- from the traditional vanilla and chocolate, to fun kid flavors like bubblegum or cotton candy. My favorite is the pumpkin ice cream that they carry around the holidays.
Lots of flavors but the best fun for kids is the model train that runs around the entire shop...my son was amazed and we like the old fashioned feel. It is nice and clean but could use better organization when it gets busy and lots of people are trying to order.. kids run the counter
I think Doc Burnstein's has the best ice cream on the Central Coast. They carry unique flavors like Egg Nog around the holidays, but always have the basic staples like Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry for the kids. Very clean and the staff is kid friendly.
Famous countywide. Proprietor Greg Steinberger turns fresh dairy cream into award-winning treats. Yum! Plus, the trains and toys alone in this old-fashioned ice-cream parlor are worthy of a stop.
We attended Ice Cream Lab Show on Wednesday night -- what a hoot! We helped invent a new flavor, and it was fun for the kids and grandparents. They also to Children's Book Readings on Tuesday afternoons. What a delightful place. I wish my home town had one of these.
