"Up and coming place to visit"

We've been to Discovery Green several times this past year.  We took our kiddos there.  They played in the water feature -- it's small, but it is free and the kiddos liked it.  We also went to Discovery Green on Halloween weekend.  That was fun!  They had trick-or-treating booths, food booths, and even a free movie (Beetlejuice) playing on a very large screen.  We brought a blanket and watched the movie at night on the Discovery Green lawn.  They also have a farmers market on Saturday mornings, but there aren't a lot of booths.  Keep on eye on their website though -- because Discovery Green has lots of cool features throughout the year.

"I love this park!"

Since Discovery Green was built I have been in love with this park. It's located conveniently near the Toyota Center, Minute Maid Park and the George R. Brown Convention Center. The park has a lot of artsy qualities to it, many of which are more modern and contemporary. The restaurant there at the park is delicious even if it is a bit pricey. There are usually numerous events throughout the year at the park and you can regularly catch a yoga/exercise class there during the week.

There is a stage for concerts and a pond that during the warmer months you can drive model boats in. During the colder months the pond has a section that is frozen over for a nice little ice rink that gets packed often.

This is a great park to bring the kids or just to have a picnic at when you need some alone time. The kids will love the playground which is built with one of those floors that's kind of composite material that doesn't hurt the kids when they fall.

Remember to bring the bathing suits for the kids during the summer because they have one of those fountains kids can run through. Also, be on the lookout for a little donut stand around the park because they make some awesome mini-donuts.
