They also have a Gift Shop
It's a fun place for adults and children, great for a rainy day! Kids can dress up and work in a fake town. There is a place for kids to pretend they are on TV and lots of other games, and activities to keep them busy for hours! They also offer one free day a year! Look out for that!
This past October my husband visited Springfield for a convention and the whole family came along! We had one day that we were going to have about 4 hours for just the kids and me to do whatever we wanted. So of course I looked for free or cheap things to do in October in Springfield. And I came across the Discovery Center!
I am so glad that we "discovered" the Discovery Center. We got there about 1 pm and stayed until 4:30 pm. My kids (ages 10 and 2 at the time) loved it! They had so many fun and hands-on exhibits. One entire floor was devoted to a little town with movie theater, house, grocery store and newspaper office! My daughter loved creating her own front page story in the newspaper office.
The price was reasonable and if you search for the Visit Springfield site you can find a discount coupon. The staff was very friendly and hands-on as well and as an added plus they had a guy on staff that resembled Albert Einstien! It was great!
They had a special experience which was a high wire bike ride but I couldn't convince my 10 year old daughter to do it!
We will certainly be going back the next time we are in Springfield!
