Explore dinosaur history in a park that preserves dinosaur tracks and contains many dinosaur exhibits.
For the price this place is great. The self guided tours were nice and my 3 year old kept interest. Inside all of the dinosaur tracks are pretty amazing. They had some hands on activities that were good, but some my 3 year old was a little too young for. I would for sure visit this place again. It was small, affordable and very interesting for all.
Pick a nice weather day to fully experience this gem in CT. The trails are easy and lots of fun. My son who was 2.5 the first time we went loved exploring nature as we roamed the self guided trails. The inside of the museum is also great. They have activities like dino puzzles and coloring books in one of the classrooms that is fun if there is not a school tour taking up the room. The movie was fun to watch. They have lots of good dino books and toys in the gift shop area.
The kids enjoyed trying to make casts of the dino prints, though it didn't go so well, but they had fun which is the most important part. We choose to do the shorter walk, the bugs were bad! It's a beautiful walk and we plan on going on the longer trail this summer. The museum itself is a lot of fun. The gift shop is strategically placed so that you must walk by/into it to get to the museum. TONS of gift, from inexpensive to expensive.
We go to this park once a year. The kids love it and never get sick of it. It is the right price to get in and has a great dinosaur to see that makes lots of noises. The past few years they added rock mining which the kids love. We will then spend several hours walking the trails on the property. We usually spend about 3 hours here. Local libraries usually have free passes
After all the hype we read in local parenting publications, we were expecting much more out of this venue. The dinosaur tracks are housed in one building, which is dimly lit and smells strangely like the caverns in Arizona.
Our children - including our dinosaur crazy son - were not amused. Interestingly enough, the gardens and nature trails provided more enjoyment and shouts of child joy than their ancient counterparts just a few yards away.
Year round exhibit, State run, lots of fun.
