"Must see!"

The Detroit Institute of Art is definitely a MUST SEE destination while visiting Detroit.  They have some beautiful pieces as part of their collection and often get traveling exhibits from around the world.  My kiddos especially love their Egyptian exhibit (available year round) and love seeing the real mummies.  The cafe is beautiful and has delicious food at decent prices, so plan to stay for lunch.

"The DIA has Always been a Favorite Place of Mine"

My daughter is a little young for the Detroit Art Institute, but I have gone here many many times...and enjoied it much.  I plan on taking her next year when she is 3...especially to Family Sundays where they have Music, Artist Demos, & Storytelling.  The DIA has changing exhibitions and seasonal sevents on-going.  It really is a beautiful museum filled with many collections of art.  It is right across the street from the Detroit Public Library, which is quite impressive building and library worth checking out...especially for older childern and teens.
