"Our trip"

We really did have alot of fun here.  My son you was just 18 months when we went had fun too.  He didn't understand everything but he loved walking around.  The bathrooms were really easy to find.  Which was good for me because I had just had a baby and was still nursing.

"Lots to See and Do!"

We recently spent an afternoon at the DMNS and our girls (ages 2-4) had a blast!  The Discovery Zone, with lots of interactive kids exhibits, was probably their favorite stop and all three enjoyed the planetarium show "The Little Star That Could".  There's definitely more to explore and we can't wait for our next visit!

"Lots to See and Do"

We love this museum! From the giant dinosaurs greeting you as you enter, to the friendly 'growling' lion near the end of your trip where you can feed him some money, there is much to see and check out. We also love the gift shop, tons to explore, and my daughter's lovey came from there! The museum is easy to find, and plenty of parking is available. A great, open area for a family to explore, located not far from downtown or other attractions like the Denver Zoo.

"Museum with Grandpa"

We all had a lot of fun. Two boys ages 2 and 4 but the 4 year old enjoyed it much more. I and Grandpa had enjoyed it to. It was a little pricey especially if you wanted to get into the special exhibits. There was an area with hands on things for kids to do and they both really enjoyed that the most. There is food there to buy and a area to sit and eat lunch. We would go again!

"Fun for a Variety of Ages"

We first started going here when our kids were 3 and 4 and they loved it!  Their favorite thing was being able to dress up like real astronauts and pretend they are driving a rocket in space.  We also really enjoyed the healthy body part.  I like how they have a separate hands on area for kids, with a dinosaur dig, smelling quiz, dancing, art and lots more.

"Love it!"

My husband and kids would spend days here at a time if possible. There are a lot of hands on activities to do and lots of fascinating exhibits to look at. The traveling exhibits change throughout the year and they are usually worth going to on their own. The IMAX theater is so much fun and we try to squeeze at least one show into each visit. A really nice learning experience.

"An annual pass is worth it!"

We just got an annual pass to this museum. Our kids are 4,5,6 and 7 and absolutely love going! Right now their favorite exhibit is Expedition Health. The short movie is interactive and outstanding...full of surprises! The little plays about nutrition are adorable, and make remembering the Super Foods easy! You can even see a computerized image of yourself aged to 70 years old. We've been over and over, and they never tire of it! The annual pass is well worth the price, especially for large families like ours.

"The best view in Denver"

While many people have visited this museum, thankfully few people venture through the dioramas and step back into the atrium-a 3 story high wall of glass-try it on a winter day and see Denver like few people ever do. In summer, take the elevator to the sky deck. It is indeed the best view of the skyline.

"we love the mummies!"

This is one of our favorite places to visit.  My son loves the gems and minerals exhibit - feels like you're in a real mine.  We all love the Expedition Health exhibit - really interactive for all ages and the kids can even put on lab coats and do real experiments in a lab specially designed for them!  We love going right when they open so we have that exhibit all to ourselves for a while.

Fabulous museum! Lots of parking. Great amenities inside to include clean bathrooms, dining on the first floor and a cool gift shop! The museum always has great exhibitions, which cost extra. The IMAX shows are incredible.

"Space Odyssey is Really Neat"

The Space Odyssey exhibit is terrific.  Martian Canyons, moons, and Nebulae were what we expected to find, and we weren't disappointed. In addition, the interactive displays were very well thought out,  applicable, and thoroughly enhanced the learning experience. The kids had opportunities to dress like astronauts and use grabbers to pick up moon rocks in a crater to use for "science experiments". By far, the most unique portion was the behind glass display and the associated "show". The Astronaut lecture was scheduled for the glass display, stools sat in front of the window, and there was a microphone, we were expecting someone to come and lecture. Instead, an "astronaut" in a full space suit appears inside the glass display and initiates a very interactive conversation with the kids. The kids used a microphone to talk to the astronaut and likewise were given the opportunity to show off their own knowledge by answering questions and engaging in an age appropriate conversation (targeted at Preschool through Early Elementary).

One extra note for this museum - go ahead and eat lunch here. For $4 these are some of the best kids meals you are going to find. For $4 the kids got a big pile of chicken nuggets, some tater tots, an apple, a cookie, and a juice or a milk. Adult meals are a bit on the more expensive side. The kids meals are pre-made so the kids just walk up, order, and eat. The convenience is fantastic and the quality was consistent with kids meals just about anywhere.

Why four stars and not five? There were a lot of school groups there that didn't seem to be supervised and most of the displays offered only a couple pairs of the tools needed for the hands on display which meant waiting and occasionally having toys grabbed away by unsupervised kids.

"Excellent, excellent, excellent!"

This was a surprise hit for our family during our vacation to CO! We were expecting a good museum and instead found a GREAT museum with something for everyone to enjoy! Our favorite part was Exhibition Health where you could see your heart beating, measure your stride and watch yourself walk on a screen, see yourself aging, and do all kinds of hand-on things like brain teasers, etc! It was entertaining to our 4 yr. old and her Grandparents alike! We also really loved the Dinosaurs and Mummies areas...this kept our kids busy for quite a while! We were there for several hours and could have stayed for more...lots of fun for all!

"Great for kids of all ages"

This is one of those natural history museums you can take your toddlers and grade school kids at the same time (and older kids of course).  There is so much for all the age groups.  This museum is full of interactive exhibits.  Expedition Health was our favorite part.  They had an area for toddler/preschoolers and for older kids and adults.  We had just finished a unit on the human body when we visited so the timing was fantastic.  It is a must see.
There is plenty of parking, somewhere to eat onsite, and a gift shop (that is cooler than most I've been to).  It is clean, well lit, and very child friendly.

"Expedition Health"

Your elementary school and middle school kids will be enthralled by this exhibit that highlights the human body. See the various stages of digestion. Get a personal assessment of your height and wingspan, and an analysis of your gait.

Learn about the respiratory system by watching (and touching) a dissection of a sheep's lung.

Most interesting? See what you will look like as you age. What will your kids look like at 25?At 45? What will YOU look like at 70?

Children can also see the effects on their own faces of smoking, of sun damage, and of obesity.

My children were fascinated.

"A day trip indeed"

This is a great venue for a day out with the kids. When you first walk in you are greeted by a giant skeleton of a T-rex, which is wonderful for all children.

Then you wander by the gift shop that has a lot of great gift ideas and a bag of rocks for the kids is a cheap memento of the trip.

There is a lot to do, many hands on activities and if you can, do NOT miss the Exhibition Health exhibit. The movie is something you will LOVE to see! Make sure you head into there, the kids will be talking about it for days.

When you get hungry you can eat in the cafe, which has a plethora of healthy foods or you can head outside to City Park and eat a picnic lunch. I usually bring a Frisbee and make sure the kids can get some time to run off some energy.

Get there early and you can head home around 1pm for a nice nap and a great set of pictures!

"Awesome Exhibits at Denver Museum of Nature and Science"

There are many permanent exhibits and visiting exhibitions at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, but on my family's recent visit we spent the majority of our time at "Exhibition Health." It's a totally interactive space, where kids learn about how their bodies work by actually measuring *their* heart rate, arm span and gait, among other things. We loved the interactive theatre show at "Exhibition Health"; I wish we had time to do the computer-generated aging station, but the line was too long, and the process takes up to 30 minutes. Other permanent exhibits cover dinosaurs, mummies... and there's an IMAX theatre too.

"lots of variety"

lots of great things to check out, especially the discovery zone kids' area on the second floor! there are great interactive exhibits all throughout, but the discovery zone (open 10-4 daily) has arts & crafts supplies, musical instruments & a stage to perform on, storytimes, and lots of other great fun for the younger set in particular. if you're a local, their family plus membership is a great deal, covering 2 adults from one household plus up to 5 others (of any age) per visit.

"A great way to spend a day!"

This is a great way to keep everyone entertained for multiple hours--and you'll need a few to see even just a little of all the museum has to offer. There are multiple areas where the kids can interact with exhibits, and a great play area where they can get really hands-on. They've got a number of dinosaur replicas, and it's always fun to see the kids' eyes get wide when they see the sheer size of them! There's also an IMAX theater (which requires an extra ticket) and a Planetarium (included in the museum's general admission price), and they offer ticket combos to save you a few bucks. Kids' admission is almost half that of the adult price, so when you consider you get an entire day's worth of entertainment, the price is really quite good.
