"GORGEOUS!!!!"

The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens are an absolutely amazingly breathtakingly beautiful place to visit.  I went during the spring with the tulips were in bloom.  There are a TON of photo opportunities.  It was busy...but everyone was respectful of space and you could just sit on the lawn and take the sights all in.  My friend and I took our kids and they loved just running around and smelling (and touching) the flowers.  Well worth the $$$ to visit...especially in the Spring.

"Gorgeous!"

The 66 acres of gardens, pathways, architectural elements and water works at the Dallas Arboretum reminded me that everything in Dallas is bigger.  We enjoyed strolling through the vibrant flowers and lovely plants.

Gracefully meandering paths and walkways move you about and through the gardens.  Tumbling terraces and graceful gazebos are perfect for a wedding or quinceneara.  We even watched a live rabbit hop through vegetation. A garden with Texas animal and bird sculptures as well as the area depicting pioneer life in the prairie are other special display areas worth a visit.

The DeGolyer's home, a Spanish style structure boasting 21,000 square feet, is not to be missed.  In the back of the home is a restaurant overlooking White Rock Lake.  Mrs. Nell DeGolyer was an avid gardener and donated much of the existing grounds and the family home to the City of Dallas.

"Better for adults"

I LOVE THIS PLACE. But I have to realize that it is really better for the adults. The kids are not that interested in the flowers. There are some play houses that the kids can play in along the way. But I still say that this is a must see in Dallas with the kids because you will get the best pictures with your kids here by the floers.

"Beautiful"

This place is beautiful!  The kids probably wont appreciate the flowers as much as the adults but there's lots of places to run and play.  A great place to take pictures of your kids and family.  My Sister-in-law took her bridal portrait here and it's gorgeous.

"Absolutely beautiful"

We went a couple of weekends ago with my 2.5 year old boy and his 2.5 year old girl friend. They had a ton of fun running through the gardens after being cooped up in the house from the rains. They loved checking out all the beautiful flowers and the ponds and finding all 18 of the bronze animal statues throughout the Lay Ornamental Garden. Their favorite were the deer by the side of the lake. (see pictures!)

The fall is a great time of year to visit because the garden has a variety of storybook playhouses on-site. We had hoped to check out the Mommy & Me Mondays and Tiny Tot Tuesday activities earlier in the week, but weren't able to because of the rain. They have arts and crafts projects, a petting zoo, music and other programs geared for kids 5 and under.

"So peaceful"

Our family loves to go exploring at the Dallas Botanical Gardens.  It is so peaceful to just enjoy a stroll along the pathways.  They have beautiful colors in every season.  We try to go on the weekdays to avoid crowds.  My 3 year old especially loves trying to find little bugs among the plants, hahaha!

"Beautiful Oasis"

The Dallas Arboretum is unbelievable.  Like most everything in Texas, it is big.  Plan to bring your sling, backpack, or a stroller when visiting with little ones.  And don't wear your heels, because there is a lot of walking to be done.  There are many meandering paths to different parts of the gardens, fountains, and some historical attractions like a Texas pioneer house.  This isn't necessarily a kid-centered attraction, but as long as you keep moving, there should be plenty to keep their little eyes and brains busy.  There are some events for children, but when I visited there were not any going on.  I spent about 3 happy hours there, and my little kids did not complain once.

"Fun with the Family"

Relax in sixty-six acres of natural beauty at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. The gardens have more than 2,000 varieties of azaleas among the thousands of blooming plants and ferns. Two historic mansions and White Rock Lake are also on the grounds.
