A good place to spend a quiet afternoon hiking or canoeing is at Crowders Mountain State Park. The mountain’s stone face, jutting 800 feet above the surrounding area, is an attraction for adventurous mountain climbers. You might even see experienced rappellers taking on the mountain’s challenging terrain. You’ll find several trails that are easier to climb, and you can fish in the lake or rent a canoe. The park office periodically offers interpretive nature presentations and has a small but engaging nature exhibit hall.
