Our family visited Cox Farms during their fall festival last year and had a blast. My five year old daughter enjoyed the slides/other kids activities and we all enjoyed the hayride (infant son even had a good time). There were farm animals to pet and I even got to try milking a cow! Some junk food, apple cider and a little pumpkin to take home topped the day off just right. We'll probably go back this year.
My family and I visit this farm! Its being awesome experience for us. We enjoyed hay ride. Also visiting corn maze adventure, bouncy house, tractor shed, rope maze, real tomatoes and juicy watermelons was great. All my family members loved to visit cox's farm during holidays.
If you are looking for a fall festival in Northern Virginia there are others you can go to without all the school crowds and mud. This used to be a fun spot but now everyone knows about it so it is very crowded in the fall. I would try the lesser known festivals like Leesburg Animal Park or Ticonderoga. There are also many apple festivals at the local apple orchards. Picking your own apples and watching them make apple butter is awesome.
My family and I go to the Fall Festival every year and half an absolute blast. They have everything from slides, to hay rides, to cider, to pumpkins, to a "cornicopia" maze. It is a very well organized event with plenty of stuff for all ages. The price is reasonable for a one time a year event that your kids will love!!!
All kinds of fun to be had a cox's farm during all the holidays. Awesome pumpkin patch!!!! Find great gourds to decorate your table with at Thanksgving or the perfect Christmas tree for your living room. They even have animals that the children can feed and pet. Open year round if I remember correctly. Great place to take the kids for an outdoor adventure.
Great fun for the whole family! Farm animals; giant slides; pony rides; rope swings; farmer's market; kettle corn. Our favorite parts were the goat farm where you can actually go in and play with the baby goats and feed them, and the free apples and really, really, really good apple cider! The farm is HUGE - so plan on bringing a stroller/wagon if your kiddo doesn't walk yet. Admission during the weekend is pricey, but reasonable during the week. Parking during the weekend is crazy - it gets packed.
