If you had visited Coral Castle in the 1940s you would have been greeted by a man weighing a mere 100 pounds and standing just over 5 feet tall. He would have asked you for ten cents admission and introduced you to his fantasy world. As you moved around his sculpture garden in stone, and the significance of each piece was explained, you would have been witness to the great pride Ed Leedskalnin took in his work. Since it is documented that no one ever witnessed Ed’s labor in building his beloved Coral Castle, some have said he had supernatural powers. Ed would only say that he knew the secrets used to build the ancient pyramids in Egypt, and if he could learn them, you could too.
Today, you can tour the Coral Castle with our enthusiastic and knowledgeable tour guides. We also offer narration in English, Spanish, French, Japanese, Russian or German. Ed a built 9-ton gate that moved with just a touch of the finger, a Polaris telescope, a one of a kind Sun Dial that tells the time to the minute and the season, as well as, functioning rocking chairs – all made entirely of coral stone.
Coral Castle is voted by ABC Television Network viewers to be one of the Top 10 Historic Hot Spots in South Florida!!
We invite you to witness for yourself what millions saw on national TV "Ancient Aliens" "Sabado Gigante's Don Francisco" "Good Morning America" "“That’s Incredible” “In Search Of…”, “You Asked For It!” and “Ripley’s Believe It or Not”. Even rock star Billy Idol wrote his hit song, “Sweet Sixteen” about Ed’s lost love.
We wonder what was the inspiration that could cause a man to spend 28 years to carve a Coral Castle from the ground up using nothing but home made tools. An homage to unrequited love? Perhaps to illustrate ancient sciences that defy gravity? Or maybe just sheer, raw human determination? The Coral Castle is an everlasting mystery to those who explore it.

"Fun for engineering minds"

The Coral Castle is one of South Florida's most unusual attractions.  Perhaps, it will not be too fun for little kiddos but if you've got an interest in engineering, then you'll have fun exploring the buildings and sculptures.  The story behind the castle is fun but not sure too many kiddos will stay entertained for too long.  The grown ups liked our visit far more than the kids.

"Interesting but quick stop"

It's a wonderful educational and beautiful outdoor museum, but not for younger children.  My husband and I really enjoyed the tour but I can see how children or even teenagers could get bored.  It's a short tour, self-guided actually, that would probably take no more than an hour but very beautiful.  The story behind the Castle still tugs at my heart strings!

"Pretty Neat"

This is not a place I would travel to just to see unless I was going to see other things in the area as well.  I must say that it is all very fasinating and the curiousity to how it was all done is pretty neat but it's the same info that can be seen online.

"not so much for little ones..."

a building made from coral block, a very interesting place, but definately more of older kids, and if they are interested in stonework, or perhaps blocks they would enjoy it. it's an unusual place, but younger kids may be easily bored. This place was featured on Ripleys Believe it or not and other similiar shows. check out the website for more info...
