Remember the days when toy stores were brimming with handmade, artistic toys made of natural materials, lovingly hand-painted and placed carefully on shelves? In these days of behemoth toy stores which largely cater to the manufacturers of cheap plastic throwaway toys, Cooleykatz is an oasis.
This is a store that I have to avoid, because every time I cross its threshold, I find altogether too many items that my kids 'must have'. The toys that Cooleykatz's owners selects tend towards the educational, the natural, the kind of toys that foster creative play and learning. There are plenty of toys on display that can be played with, including a Brio train set, a marble maze, and various musical toys. This is a fun place for adults and kids alike, to browse, to dream, and to shop.
