The History Colorado Center, one of Denver’s newest cultural attractions, celebrates its grand opening April 28, 2012. Designed to ignite imaginations of all ages about Colorado history, debut exhibits share the stories and the spirit of Colorado’s people over the past 10,000 years.
High-tech, hands-on highlights include soaring off a virtual ski jump, taking a virtual ride across the plains in a Model T, and pushing an interactive “time machine” on a 60-foot floor map of Colorado. Public programs, activities and special events for children, families and adults, make the History Colorado Center a destination for exploration, self-discovery, inspiration and fun.
A Smithsonian Affiliate, the new History Colorado Center is a “must see” attraction for Denver visitors, history buffs, families—anyone who is attracted to the allure that is Colorado.

"They are moving"

This museum is moving locations, so it will be interesting to see what they do with their new space-one museum worker told me that the "open storage" 2 story high glass-cased area which featured so prominently on the lower level of the old location will actually be able to have more items displayed-he said many many items remained in back and no one ever saw them.  As an educator I hope the new layout is more cohesive-due to space the flow the museum was arbitrary and disjointed. Let's hope the wonderful ancient pueblo and plains peoples exhibits are maintained and expanded, and that the mining equipment stays!
