Picnicking, Swimming, Fishing
Once you’ve crossed the footbridge that connects Waiakea Peninsula to Coconut Island, you’ll feel as if you’ve entered a Japanese meditative garden. There are pagodas, stone lanterns, torii gates, and a meandering series of streams shadowed by little crescentshaped stone bridges. It’s a wonderful place to enjoy a picnic and the panoramic views of Hilo. A cozy little natural pool here, complete with a diving tower, offers a sheltered area ideal for small children.
