"Breathtaking!"

While staying at The Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay, my family participated in a free golf cart tour of the Coastal Trail and boy were we glad we did! The scenic trail is breathtaking and not to be missed. Though at first glance the trail appears to belong to the luxurious Ritz, it’s actually open to the public.

Enjoy a walk or ride along the 6-mile paved trail from Pillar Point Harbor to Poplar Avenue. All along the trail, paths lead to awesome State Beaches and remarkable coastal views. This area is great for running, walking, biking, beach lounging, horseback riding, camping, fishing, shopping, restaurants and more. For a true escape, stay at the nearby Ritz-Carlton or reserve a room at Half Moon Bay Inn a few miles down the road.

Best times to visit are spring, fall and winter, as it's less crowded. I visited in late February and I practically had the whole trail to myself. In summer, try visiting on a less-crowded weekday afternoon. Be sure to wear sunscreen and layered clothing, as the temperature can change often with fog and wind. Speaking of the wind, if you have long hair like me, pull it in a tight ponytail. The wind can be something fierce! Bring your camera, and plan to stop at Cameron’s Pub for lunch along the way. While at Cameron’s Pub tour their RV campground out back. You’ll be glad you did.

"Fun with the Family"

A flat, easy, 5-mile paved biking and walking trail along the coastline—beautiful! There is a parking lot here, a picnic area, and a bridge to the southern coastal trail.
