"Best playground of the western U.P.!"

The Waterfront Park features the largest and most remarkable playground of the western Upper Peninsula! There is a small, clean sandy beach on the Portage Canal waterfront, along with a large grassy area full of picnic benches and trees, not far from a small music pavilion.  But, the highlight of this park (for kids and adults alike) is the Chutes and Ladders playground.  It is an enormous wooden playground, peppered with HUGE orange plastic tube slides that run down the hillside. Families could easily spend a couple of hours here wearing one another out! There are restrooms at the pavilion as well (open seasonally, of course) and a small concessions area. It really is a highlight of the town, located at the far end of a nice bike path that runs along the waterfront.
