This block of homes are beautifully decorated and full of Holiday Ligths the whole month of December.
Santa Claus is usually here everyday till Christmas from 6:30-8PM (weather permitting).
I grew up in a city with two very long, spectacularly assembled Christmas Tree lanes, so I know how good they can be. For the light lovers among us (come on, admit it, you love them too), it's such a different experience to walk or drive slowly and ogle display after display rather than glimpsing a nice display here or there while driving along your normal route or checking out the individual houses of the extra festive folks in far flung neighborhoods who are willing to sacrifice their electricity bills for the joy of the season.
This particular stretch is a perfect balance. Almost every house participates, but the street is short. It can be slow, but that's a good thing, and I've never tried visiting and found a mile long queue just to turn on to the street. So lower pressure, a nice set of lights and you don't have to commit your entire evening. Why should your family have to deal with a bunch of stress just to see some pretty lights?
This block of Thompson Avenue is full of lights and Christmas characters all December. If you come between 6:00 pm and 8:30 pm, your children can have their picture taken with Santa (for free). There is a donation box. There is also a mailbox. If you post your letter to Santa, you will receive a response to your letter. We have two children and they both received their own personnalized letter. Nice thought.
We go to Christmas Lane every year and we always have a nice time spotting new decorations or recognizing new ones.
