We took our 4 year old daughter to see Busytown and it was fantastic. It was interactive and the kids left with balloons and stickers. My daughter wanted to go back the next day. The theater is in a great location where you can make a whole day of family fun!
A really first-class place to take the kids for exposure to performance art is the Children’s Theater of Charlotte. The theater is largely dedicated to the arts in education and is heavily involved with the Mecklenburg County school system. Many of the plays are performed by local children; however, the playbill includes several professionally produced productions annually. In the past the theater has presented such gems as Winnie the Pooh, Treasure Island, and Charlotte’s Web, in addition to creative holiday and seasonal productions. It’s located in one of newcomers on the Charlotte cultural scene—ImaginOn.
I have attended many plays here with my own children, church groups, and school groups. Everything that I have been to has been well worth the trip. There are so many that I want to see during the 2009-2010 production year! I am really excited about Beauty and the Beast and can't wait for Goodnight Moon! For a real adventure, ride the light rail into town! It stops right at Children's Theater!
