The Children's Museum of Tacoma has a variety of hands-on activities for kids to explore.
Other interesting activities nearby include Farmers Market on Thursday during the summer months a block away and a great toy store, Learning Sprout 3 blocks walk.
Its a bit over priced but if you can actually rent a play pass from the library its free, yay! It is small but the kids love it there and the giant building blocks kept my boys busy. The little farmers market area is interesting and they have a art room with different crafts tables(two)
We went there planning on spending the whole afternoon and the kids were ready to go after an hour at the most. There really wasn't much to do at all. Especially for the price. They charge almost as much as the Portland Children's museum and is about one tenth of the size. I was very disappointed.
I have been looking for a place to take my 16 mo. old son. All the other musuem for kids seemed to be for 3 and up, but this place is perfect for all age groups. They have lots of fun interactive toys, a snack area and even an art area for when he gets older. My husband and I are very excited to have a place to take our lil man on rainy days, and excited that it will be a place that will grow with him.
We took our son here who is about to turn 2 and he had an amazing time, as did we! It is so nice to have a clean safe place to take your little ones to play. We will definatley go back and we recommend this place to anyone looking for a great family expierence.
The Tacoma Childrens Museum is on the smaller side but great because I don't feel like I am going to loose a kid. Features for the family, in our opinion are, the vegetable garden, the painting area and market. The kids love pretend planting the garden...looks so real! Make it a extra fun day and ride the FREE monorail through downtown!
This hands on Childrens Musuem offers a lot especially for the preschool group but the activities can hold interest for kids up to 8 or 9. There is a really fun pretend farm/farm kiosk and restaurant. Also a great crafts area. The non-permanent exhibit that is currently going on is a pretend play area involving 2 Native American Folk Tales.
Its a small musuem but its perfect for an hour of play and the choices aren't too overwhelming for the preschooler.
In the summer months, there is a Farmers Market right in the same area of downtown and there is a free play day on these Thursday mornings at the musuem. Certain Fridays are also free.
