"So, so, so much fun!"

My son and I have been to the CMOR a number of times and we always discover something new and fun to do there.  They have a number of attractions and a few that change every year or so.  By far, my 4 year old's favorite is the water area, where they have a working water model of the James River as it runs though the city of RIchmond.  The kids can see how the water flows by putting boats and other toys at the toys and watching them float through the city.

There is also a very cool dinosaur fossil dig, where kids can unearth "bones" w/ shovels and brushes.

I highly reccomend visiting!

"Amazing!"

Best Children's Museum I've been to by far! This was endless fun for little guys(and gals). And not just fun, but hands on exciting learning too! Really, what more could you ask for than a walk through the human digestive tract...starting with a giant tongue in mouth! If that's not your thing, they also have a large water play area!

"Fun, but was expecting more."

This is a pretty good museum, but I wish there were more biological aspects.  I was expecting some wax creatures, but unfortunately there were little, if any.  My son did enjoy the chemical experiments that he could do, as well as the trains.  He had fun with the building blocks and the bubbles, so he wants to go back.

"Fun for kids"

This is a really fun museum to take your children.  We went went we had out of towners.  They really enjoyed it.  There are several activities.  It is better than the short pump location.  Short pump doesn't have near the activities!  We would go back and take our children here.

"The Original One is Still the Better One!"

I've taken my kids to both this one and the newer one in Short Pump, and this one is just so much better!  This one is worth the price of admission!  You'll find yourself wanting to look at the special displays, but your kids will be wrapped up in the toy food they're serving you in the pretend restaurant.  Then, be ready to spend some quality time in the craft room (I made my daughter a crown while she worked on some pictures - she still has the crown, and that was three years ago).

CMoR is worth the trip, the price of admission, and the time you'll spend with your kids!

"Day trip to CMoR"

Well, we expected a bigger place, for one.  I really thought there would be a LOT more than what this place had for being rated as a top museum for families.  Not to mention that it was RIDICULOUSLY expensive.  It was $8 a person...adult or child, didn't matter, still had to pay the $8 for admission.  Forgive me, but I was not playing on the equipment and I shouldn't have to pay to supervise my OWN children.  I don't think we'll be back.  It was something to do on a whim and wouldn't really want to spend that much again.

"cultural fun"

When we went there was an African Dance group performing and my daughter was mesmerized. There are plenty of exhibits set up and even a "grocery store" with fake food to shop for. Fun for the little ones but maybe not for older "big" kids. They even have a membership you can buy so it's not as expensive to go more often if you live near.

"It was ok!!!"

We went there with tickets we were given for free and we were there maybe an hour. I guess it's more for ages under 5 years old because my step daughter is 6 and got bored easily with it. The one thing she did love is that we went during the winter and they had fake snow on the ground out back and made the area into a snowball throw area and she loved playing in the snow especially since we don't get much of it here!!!

"Great place..."

We love this museum and even have a family membership. It is really big and has lots of exhibits for children of all ages. We really like the backyard water play they offer in the summer. They are always changing around the exhibits, so it remains interesting for the children. They offer various kinds of programs and classes as well.

"Fun with the Family"

Here kids can crawl under a fish tank, sit in an eagle's nest, wiggle through the human digestive tract, build a dam, turn the gears of a clock tower,  tinker in the inventor's lab, experiment with kitchen chemistry, and create a work of art. Focusing on children from birth to 8 years old,  this museum gives families a chance to experience things together. Especially fun is the Play House, a child-sized theater with changeable sets,  curtains, and costumes for kids to put on their own impromptu performancees. The Shadow Play exhibit allows children to have their shadows interact with different screen representations of nature.
