"A Fun Afternoon For Kids"

I took my 3 year old daughter here and she had a fun time. It was a bit small to me, but there was still a lot to do. The Merry-Go-Round was out of order when we went, which is a bummer because my daughter really wanted to go on it. They have a section with a pretend grocery store you can shop at and work the register, a space area where you can dress up like a NASA worker, a shadow box that is pretty cool, a dress up area where you can perform on stage in your outfits,a building block room, and we found a room where they do crafts with the kids. When we went they were making a solar system mobile out of paper plates and paper. It was a fun few hours.

"I love Shadows!"

They have a FREE day on the first Saturday of the month.  Parking is FREE.

I took my 2 year old and it was very crowded.  I would recommend going if it is your first time on a free day since there is nothing to loose, but for a more relaxed time go on a weekday.

Things my 2 year old loved - Shadow box (I loved this too), trains (he loved pushing the buttons and seeing them go), the real and stuffed animals, and the bus.

We took lunch with us and had it at the park.

"Not just for toddlers"

I was afraid that this museum would be too young for my 7 and 9 year old to visit but I was pleasantly surprised by many of the exhibits and rooms.

On one visit there were displays and hands on experiments about the 5 senses.  The exhibits were simple enough to delight my 3 year old and detailed enough to teach my 9 year old something new.  The same was true later in the year when the same room hosted a display about the "Ring of Fire" around the Pacific Ocean.  There was plenty of information about each country, volcanoes, and earthquakes.  It was like we took a trip around the world.

The "Natural History" room with taxidermied animals was also quite a great experience and offered many educational experiences.

"An afternoon of fun"

This is a smaller museum and can be explored within a couple of hours. Hands-on exhibits are fun but the highlight for my 2.5 year old son was the miniature trains. There is also an outdoor train caboose. The museum gets really crowded on the Target free days. Luckily, admission is not too pricey so a return visit is affordable.

"Fun with the Family"

Opened in 1977 as California’s first children’s museum, this facility is located in a renovated 1923 Union Pacific train depot. It contains fifteen permanent exhibits, including a carousel, nature walk, science station, dino dig, kids on stage, and preschool play park. Temporary exhibits change at least three times a year.

"Lots of fun and open ended play!"

So much to discover in this smaller children's museum. We love the miniatures with the trains running through and the carousel. The school bus is also lots of fun for pretending. If you child likes dressing up, you will have a hard time getting them off the kid's stage! Also a great room for the 5 and under crowd to crawl on and over and under in the indoor park.  There is a nice picnic area out back to sit and eat lunch and a fun playground to tempt your children away from their lunch!
