Welcome to the Children’s Hands-On Museum of Tuscaloosa! CHOM, where children Explore, Create and Discover every time they visit. When we say “hands-on” we really mean it! Learning through play is what our exhibits are all about, and you are encouraged to touch, feel and play in our exhibits. Three floors of fun wait for families and school groups, too. With 21 exhibits, CHOM offers newborns through age 13 a fabulous place just for them! Exhibits, special events, holiday celebrations and parties are all waiting at CHOM!
While driving thru Alabama last October we mapped out a trip to this Children's museum. Since we have had a membership at our local family museum, we receive free admission to all of the others across the country - We have become experts in the past 2 years! The CHOM of Tuscaloosa is our new favorite!!! They have a WONDERFUL old time town set up for the kids to play make believe. My children loved playing store in the authentic old ice cream shop and dress up in Grandma's attic! I think our other favorite exhibit (although it is hard to decide because they are all so great..) was the hospital downstairs. We played in the ER and each of our children took turns being Dr. to Mom and Dad as patients! The Japanese house was facinating for all of us! Both the kids played for a long time in the indian village. And the Kool Zone was also fun with a wind chamber where you could catch flying balls. My 3 year old really enjoyed the Garden Gate section, so much we had trouble getting her to want to leave! We definately recommend a trip to this museum! We plan to go next time we find ourselves in Alabama!
My friend and I took our kids here while we were at a workshop one weekend. The kids loved it and I will say that we didnt get bored either. This museum had so many hands on things that the kids could play with and create. It definitely spurred their imagination and mine as well. If I am ever back down that way, i would definitely go back!
We took our son to the museum last time that we were in town and it entertained him for hours. We were able to socialize with the other parents while the kids played. The prices to get in were awesome too! They had great exhibits too! We will definitely go back!
