Chickasaw State Rustic Park is situated on some of the highest terrain in west Tennessee. Of the area's 14,384 acres of timberland, 1,280 acres are used for recreation. The remainder is state forest managed jointly by the State Forestry Division and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. The park is located in Chester and Hardeman Counties, 18 miles south of Jackson, Tennessee on State Hwy. 100.
If visiting in the summer there is a lake for swimming, and paddle boats to rent. There is also a stable for horse back riding, tennis courts, a softball field, and even archery targets. There are playgrounds at all the different campgrounds and one at the swim beach area. If camping is not for you they also have nice cabins or if you have a large group there is a group Lodge. They have hiking trail but do not seem very well maintained but still enjoyable. If you plan on hiking I would recommend going on a day it is not too hot, the bugs seem to be worse in the muggy weather with the trails winding through a swampy area. If you do not want to picnic there is a Restaurant on the hill with a deck over looking the lake.
