A unique and interesting town full of shops and lots of events that take place regularly.
Chinatown is a great spot to explore on a sunny afternoon. The little shops are filled with interesting baubles and trinkets -- bento box supplies, parasols, fans, etc.
You can also check out the different restaurants and bakeries -- try bubble tea, dim sum, some of the filled rolls and DEFINITELY peruse the sweet shops! We usually try to pick up a few different varieties of Pocky and rice snacks. Most of the people in the sweet shops will offer you a taste of something so if you're curious, ask them!
Our kids love exploring Chinatown and giving new food a try!
This little taste of China in Chicago can be described as off the beaten path. It has a small number of shops and eateries that spans about 2 blocks. The eateries offer dim sum and other Chinese food and delicacies. But it's nothing compared to the great big Chinatowns in New York and San Francisco. Good place to visit.
The Asian community of Chinatown, at the crossroads of Wentworth and Cermak Avenues, is one of the most active neighborhoods on the South Side. About 10,000 people live within a 10-block radius, and you’ll find fabulous restaurants and shops here. There are many special events throughout the year.
