I had read that the Food Network films a couple of its shows here and was pleasantly surprised when we saw Rachael Ray casually walking through the Chelsea Market on our recent visit! Conveniently located near the High Line, we stopped in after visiting the urban park. I liked the cool industrial vibe. A little dark though. My little guy liked the display of exposed pipes with water coming out. Tons of delicious food to choose from, too. One downside though was that there were not so many tables.
An entire warehouse/factory block that was converted into a food market on the ground floor with offices above. The designers kept the industrial feel of the space by making it a piece of art too. Gourmet bakeries, ice-cream, cafe, tea salon, restaurants, kitchen supply store and a children's clothes boutique plus gourmet food stores, a butcher and a fishmonger open up onto an interior corridor of found industrial artifacts - exposed hanging pipes, old iron hinges, caged metal ceiling fans, etc. Children and adults will surely enjoy the cool objects to discover all along the stretch while filling their tummies with yummy food. Every thing is first rate here! It is also a place well locals shop for their groceries too.
