The Chattanooga Zoo is located in Warner Park! and features animals from all over the world, including Latin America, North America, Africa, and Asia.
The Chattanooga zoo is a great place to go on Wednesdays. Wednesdays are only a dollar. If you have small children it is a great place to spend a couple of hours. It is a smaller zoo, but it does have enough animals to keep young children entertained. They also have a carousel that you can ride for a dollar and a very small playground after you have finished up looking at all the animals.
If you are planning a short day trip in Chattanooga, TN, I recommend going to the Chattanooga Zoo. The zoo is not very big, but has had a lot of great up-grades in the last few years. They have everything from tigers to apes and a lot of things in between. They even have a monkey that was once a circus monkey, he posed for a few pictures with my little boy. They have a very nice carousel in the zoo as well. There is a nice gift shop at the entrance. The zoo is small enough that it's not overwhelming for little ones and you can easily see everything in an hour or two. It is located near downtown Chattanoog in Werner Park.
The Chattanooga Zoo, formerly known as Warner Park, is a great local zoo. Families of all ages will enjoy the many different animal areas without having to travel to a metropolitan city. The Chattanooga Zoo is also a great value for those on a budget.
It is a good zoo and includes good activities and exhibits for very small children and up, so I've been happy with that.
I don't think it's worth the price for a single admission unless you can spend an entire day there, but a family membership is reasonable if you plan on taking a family more than twice/year.
The Chattanooga Zoo is small, but nice. They have made some great improvements over the past couple of year too. I love their new entrance to the zoo.
The animals are easy to see and you can get a really close view of them. My favorite spot is visiting Hank, the chimpanzee. You can stand indoors right at the window and he will come right up to you. My 3 year old loved putting her hand on the glass and watching Hank come up and put his hand with hers.
This zoo is a great day trip and they are still improving it every time we visit! It has chimps, red pandas, spider monkeys, and hyenas. The exhibits feature bridges and an old train caboose. There are tons of photo opportunities at this zoo for the kids. Chattanooga Zoo also has a petting zoo area where you can feed and pet the animals. And, they have a great gift shop with wonderful ideas for birthdays and other occasion gifts! Don't forget to ride the carousel!
