In October of 2005, residents of Charlotte and its surrounding areas welcomed a new beacon to Uptown Charlotte. Charlotte Bobcats Arena, built by the City of Charlotte and operated by the Charlotte Bobcats Organization, is home of the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats, the WNBA's Charlotte Sting and the ECHL’s Charlotte Checkers. In addition to professional basketball, Charlotte Bobcats Arena will host a wide variety of premier events from college basketball games and tournaments, to popular concerts and family entertainment.

"Rich Basketball History "

In 2004 Bob Johnson, founder of the Black Entertainment Network, bought an NBA franchise for the city to replace the Charlotte Hornets NBA team, which made its way to New Orleans. For a year, the Charlotte Bobcats played at the city’s old coliseum, while the team, in partnership with the city, built a new state-of-the-art arena in the city’s center. Built with the region’s rich basketball history and cultural heritage in mind, there are fun things to do at the arena regardless of the event. Exhibits and displays, as well as a kid’s interactive center, welcome all.

Individual tickets for Bobcats games can be purchased online at www.charlottebobcatsarena.com; by phone at (800) 495–2295; at the arena’s on-site box office; or at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center ticket outlet, in Founder’s Hall in the Bank of America corporate center, 100 North Tryon Street.
