"Riding Adventure in the Mountains"

Ever watched “The Man from Snowy River”?  Want to have your own Jim Craig mustang adventure in the mountains?  Cedar Mountain Corrals, located high in the mountains of Moonlight Basin, offers guided trail rides that will satisfy every family’s equestrian wanderlust.  The Big Sky mountains ranges are rugged and beautiful, and I highly recommend exploring them on the back of a horse.  Actually, I recommend exploring any mountain from the back of a horse- riding is one of my passions.

For families with very young children, Cedar Mountain offers pony rides (free with paid ride, $15 alone) winter sleigh rides, stage coach trips, and hayrides (kids under 2 are free)!
For special occasions, Cedar Mountain has elegant horse drawn carriages to transport families in style.

Will, our Cedar Mountain guide, led my daughter and me down thrilling trails, over bridges, and past vistas worthy of a Hollywood movie.  I could almost hear Jim’s whip crack in the distance, and expected to see those wild brumbies come crashing down the mountain any moment.

The Cedar mountain horses are sure footed and calm- a good thing in a wild land full of bears and steep trails.  The barn is well-organized and the horses are well-cared for and healthy.  I wanted my daughter to wear a helmet, so they gave her a brand-new one, still with the tags attached!

The guides are warm and friendly, the scenery is gorgeous, and the horses are docile and safe for kids.  I cannot wait to return to Moonlight Basin to explore more of the mountains on horseback.
Next time we will be sure to book an evening ride followed by a BBQ dinner, or perhaps enjoy a twilight s’more roast on the dock of Ulery Lake.

Disclosure:  Although I received a complimentary ride from Cedar Mountain, my reviews are always my own.  This review was not influenced by Cedar Mountain staff or its affiliates.
