Cedar Breaks National Monument is a natural amphitheater canyon, stretching across 3 miles. Family-friendly events include the annual Wildflower festival, Star Parties, Anniversary celebrations, and Fall Color activities. Cedar Breaks also offers three trails ranging from short "leg-stretchers" walks to moderate or difficult walks for teens.
After visiting Zion Canyon, North Rim Grand Canyon, and Bryce Canyon, we thought we'd seen the best Mother Nature has to offer. We were pleasantly surprised when we stopped at Cedar Breaks on our way home. You can't walk down into the Canyon, as you can at Bryce, but there is an easy canyon rim trail that even the youngest kids should be able to maneuver. Cedar Breaks is at 10,000 ft, so it's cool even when it's 100+ degrees at Zion. The views were sensational, and it was an easy, uncrowded park. We were really glad we stopped. It's a short drive to Cedar City, which is a reasonably large town with lots of food options--perfect for hungry adventurers coming out of the mountains.
