This park is one of the most popular unbridged island destinations of southwest Florida. You’ll love it if you favor secluded beaches. At the northern end, the almost entirely natural island provides a picnic ground for day-trippers and rustic cabins and tent sites for overnighters. There’s no drinking water or electricity on the island. There are mosquitoes—lots of them. Avoid hot, still days if you plan on attacking the
island’s trails through subtropic jungle to historic sites such as a pioneer cemetery.
Shuttles and boat rentals are also available from Captiva Island.
