There's no better way to spend your time than sitting high in the mountains where a rush of fresh air fill your lungs and the views take it away just as quickly. Join us on our Discovery tour and hear about the history of Cave of the Winds and its discovery more than 100 years ago. See all kinds of different, unique formations including stalactities, stalagmites, and much more! Or if you want more you can step back in time to experience for yourself what the early tours were like with only the light of a lantern on our bone chilling Lantern Tour.

These Colorado Caves have some narrow, short passageways and over 200 stairs throughout the tours, so strollers and baby backpacks are not allowed. However, baby backpacks worn on the front may be worn.

"Well lit and interesting!"

We were a bit skeptical that this tour would keep our 4 year old's interest for 45 minutes, but the tour guides here do a wonderful job of keeping everyone moving and interested for the entire time. We have been on other cave tours before, but this was the most well lit (i.e. no worries about the kids tripping or stumbling over dark areas) by far. Loved all the formations on the ceilings and our little guy loved being in the "bat cave." In addition, the scenery from the gift shop is amazing. They also have a small cafe where you can purchase food and plenty of tables to dine.

"Fun"

Cave of the Winds in Manitou is just like any other Cave of the Winds across the country. If you enjoy geology, then you will really like it. Kids will probably find it fun too, but make sure to bring a jacket because it is quite chilly! There also is a really nice view from here of the city.

"Very Interesting"

The Cave of the Winds has many different tours for the whole family. The guides are great and very informative. I suggest you bring a coat or sweatshirt as it does get chilly in there. They have a great gift store as well. You can even buy rocks like the ones you see in the caves.

"Two tours, one for kids 6+"

Although there are many Colorado caves you can adventure through, this one is probably the most well known. There are two guided tours, a 45 minute one that can accommodate kids under 6 years old, and a lantern tour that is about 1.5 hours and no one under 6 is allowed.  We plan to take the lantern tour when our youngest turns six this year, but the Discovery tour is great for families!
