I think the science center is a great place. My children have gone on field trips there and always enjoyed it! The employees are very polite and helpful. The only complaint I would have is that I had a hard time through certain parts of the buildings pushing my stroller through. Other than that It was Great!
My 2 yaer old daughter loves to go and see the butterfly exibit. The toddler play area is also one of the things she enjoys doing. While there she gets to mingle and play with the other kids and have fun. although she doesn't stay still to appreciate it, the aquriaum is my fav.
We visited the catawba science center with our 5 month old daughter and had a blast. She enjoyed the aquarium and there was a room in the science center designed for toddler play. She enjoyed crawling around in there, but we will definitely be back for more when she is walking. I see us getting a membership here as a local, fun, family outing.
The Catawba Science Center will provide hours of entertainment and education with a wide variety of hands-on exhibits. Don’t miss the exhibit on the life cycle of a live mountain stream or the exhibits on health and fitness. The Physical Science Arcade offers opportunities to learn about physics, light, and sound. Climb a mountain wall and check out the exhibits in the Piedmont Treehouse.
Kids can also take a walk down Energy Avenue where they will create and launch rockets, give themselves a lift with a pulley system, and take a spin in Spin Circle.
The kids loved the swamp thing exhibit. The live animals were a huge hit! The inventors workshop was another favorite. There are plenty of exhibits to please any age children. The price is great too. Even the gift shop prices weren't outrageous!
Our moms group goes here and with our Nature Center memberships we get in FREE! This place is so big and awsome! They have EVERYTHING! the garden is so cool with a creek running down the middle...they have a toddler playroom thats HUGE! all kinds of stuff and beside the science center they also have an aquarium thats including in your ticket! Really Really worth the hour drive from marion!!! I will post pics!
We like to go to the science center to see the new exhibits. The aquarium is the best, for such a small community, I am impressed. There are plenty of fossils to discover. The butterfly exhibit is always a hit with my children. They also host birthday parties with a wide range of themes to please every age
This is what the locals know...Fridays at the Science Center are free thanks to generous sponsors. There is something to learn for kids in all age groups as well as play rooms that entertain specific ages. The addition of the aquarium makes this a must see in Hickory.
Hands-on fun, an aquarium featuring daily shark feedings and a planetarium can all be found at the Catawba Science Center. This is a popular destination for school field trips. The kids have a great time but my husband and I quickly become bored. It's often free on Fridays though you should call and ask just in case.
