Castle McCulloch isn't just for weddings and private events. Each Sunday, they host a a gold-panning event from 11am - 5pm and (June 1st-August 11th) Monday - Wednesday 2pm - 4pm. Find Emeralds, Rubies, Crystals, Amethyst. Admission is $4.00, buckets starting at $10.00.
Part panning operation, part wedding venue, you can't deny that Castle McCulloch is pretty cool to visit simply because it really does look and feel like a castle. Both a National and State Historic Site, the landmark was built by an enterprising Cornish engineer named Charles McCulloch as a gold refinery in 1832. Now tourists can mine for gold, emeralds, rubies, garnets, amethyst, and crystals. Special events such as the Christmas Castle are conducted throughout the year.
