"Great All Day Activity!"
Want to spend the day outdoors? This is the perfect place to do it. Castaic Lake is a very clean and family friendly place to spend the day. There are a few section of this lake. There is a section where swimming is not allowed, but fishing is. My husband has gone with his cousins and enjoyed his experience. There is also a beach area, where you can set up your towels and umbrellas and swim. Then there is an area where you can have jet skies and small boats.
If you would like to BBQ, there are BBQ areas that have sinks and BBQ's for you to use. These areas are kept very clean. Another nice thing about this lake is the several play grounds with really nice high end play structures. They are in several section of the park.
Parking is $11 and can fill up quite fast in the summer.
Just a quick note about the beach area. The sand is a rocky sand, not the fine sand you find at the beach. This makes it hard for the kids to make sand castles. My daughter was entertained by finding different color and size rocks and sorting them. I mention this because I was a little disappointed at first, but when my daughter figured out a different game to play I forgot all about it. Also remember this is a lake, so the bottom of the lake is mossy and rocky in some places. We live in Castaic, & it's a quick fix if your in the mood to spend the day in the sun & water but don't want to drive out to the beach.
Also at the end of the summer swimming is not allowed even if it's hot because there are no lifeguards on duty.

"Beautiful clean lake"
Castaic is a fun family lake. The water is clean and the fishing is usually pretty good. The Upper lake has a wide boat launch that has a huge current, and its a bit of a struggle at times to get out because of win and current. They have a designated jet ski area right next to the launch and ket skis are not allowed anywhere else on the lake. they also do not allow any alcohol on the lake nor any swimming (because its used for drinking water I guess). But for a quick day out to fish its a lot of fun.
