"Wonderful Park and Zoo"

My family loves the Zoo and with good reason. There are places to have parties, 2 playgrounds, a train and a large zoo to explore. I've been going here since I was a kid myself and this place only gets better. The zoo grounds are clean and well maintained. Children of all ages will love the areas where they can feed the goats or the ducks. A great gem in south jersey.

"Bring the whole family!"

The Cape May Zoo is a wonderful place to visit to break up time at the beach. It's great on a cloudy-ish day or if you're sick of spending every day at the beach. The place is free of charge, although they do ask for donations. You'll want to give something after seeing how great the place is.

It's a dooable size for families without being overwhelming in size. You can easily complete it in a morning or afternoon visit. There is plenty of shade so you're not melting the entire time and it is stroller friendly. Kids will love the abundance of animals and the opportunity to see giraffes, zebras, lions, turtles, birds and more. Definitely something for everyone, and not really torture for those not big into zoos.

If you don't want to bring food to eat before or afterwards on the grounds, it is near many quick food stops in town so you can always go that route. There's a large playground by the parking lot that offers kids another outlet for their energy, so you can let them loose here as well. Plenty to do, plenty to see, great for all ages, clean, well-kept, affordable, and dooable in a reasonable amount of time. Make time for this zoo if you're in the area, as you won't be disappointed.

"What a surprise..and it's free"

Didn't think there would be a zoo down in Cape May, but there is, and it's free! A good time with family, plenty of animals to see. Depending on the time of day and season you go, the parking may be a bit far from the entrance, so be prepared, have your strollers if your kids are of that age, and plenty of snacks for them. Otherwise, a fun time with the family

"Cape May Zoo is a beautiful place to visit!"

Cape May Zoo is a picturesque little zoo located in Cape May County New Jersey. Not only is this zoo totally free to visit--they also have an amazing playground and picnic area too! They have a large variety of animals and beautifully landscaped paths. It is a wonderful, clean, family friendly attraction!

"I can't believe this zoo is free!"

You will repeat this over and over to your partner as you wander through this amazing zoo... We visited for the first time during the summer of 2009. It seems we chose the hottest day of the entire summer to visit. Unbearable heat aside, we had the most incredible time.
The zoo is over 200 acres of beautiful wooded spaces. Our primary goal was the zoo, but I know that they have hiking trails, fishing ponds, tennis courts, disc golf and playgrounds as well as some other amenities available to the public as well.
The zoo is home to  a lion, a tiger and a bear (oh, my) as well as zebra's, giraffes, red panda, lemurs, 2 bald eagles, an aviary where the birds will land on you, and a reptile house and many more residents! (550+inhabitants represent over 250 species) according to their pamphlet.

I recommend not going on the hottest day of the year, and I also recommend packing a picnic lunch ( stop at subway even) and enjoy the picnic area and beautiful playground that is available just in front of the zoo.
There is a safari cafe, if you chose not to pack a lunch, they also offer a  wildlife carousel, and a train ride ( both require the purchase of ride tokens). Stroller and wheel chair rental is available at the gift shop.
Before entering the zoo they ask if you have any food to return it to your vehicle (no cheerios, Ritz, cheese-its, etc) since the animals are on strict diets that don't include toddler fare.
The zoo is free as I said earlier, they do request a donation upon entering the "grounds" but you will wish you gave more than you did once you get into this zoo! So be generous.

"A great family day"

What I love about this zoo is it is big enough to feel like a zoo but small enough that you don't get exhausted from the trek.  It is very shady and well kept.

Food cannot be brought into the zoo but there are great picnic areas right outside the gates along with playground equipment.  It is a great way to refuel and blow off a little steam.  (There are concession areas if you don't want to brown bag it)

Best part?  It is free.  Where can you find free these days?

"Cape May Zoo"

I love the Cape May Zoo much more than the Philadlphia Zoo! From birds to big cats, the boardwalk that leads you through a forested area out to see Sahara animals. Kangaroos and zebras. It's a wonderful place to spend the morning beofre hitting the beach.

"Cape May Zoo"

This is a great zoo.  It's free to get in.  They ask for donations at the door but it's not mandatory.  We have a couple dollars.  The zoo has tons of animals.  Very stroller friendly.  There are lots of picnic table and bathrooms were easy to find.

"Free and Fun"

The zoo is free for everyone! They do collect donations, so you can put a few dollars in there if you would like. It is nice, they have a lot of animals. They also have a playground, and lots of picnic tables, so you can pack a lunch. They do have a concession stand also if you just want to buy lunch instead, and a souvenir shop.
