You can reserve either a rustic or modern cabin and enjoy a wide variety of nature education programs at Canoe Creek State Park, one of a few parks that offer bat hikes, a favorite with our boys. At Canoe Creek you can join in on a bat hike to look in on Pennsylvania’s largest bat nursery colony (females and young) in the attic of an old church. As night falls, they emerge from their home—about 10,000 of them! Children under twelve must be accompanied by an adult. Bring a flashlight. Other programs teach about bluebirds, birds’ nests, frogs and toads, and wildflowers. Persons with disabilities may call (814) 695–6807 if assistance will be needed to participate in the program.
