This unusual museum was the home of Cabot Yerxa, whose life sounds a lot like a tall tale. During the one-hour guided tour, you'll hear how he came to Desert Hot Springs, what he found there that made the area famous, and why and how he built this one-of-a-kind home from reclaimed and recycled materials.
This is a "no-touching" museum but the rooms are very unique and our tour guide was great at making things interesting for both the adults and the kids.
Not too many people seem to know about this place, so if you go, you'll see something few others have.
Hint: If you get there for the first (9:30 a.m.) tour of the day, you'll be able to see Cabot's "angel" in the mountain, which is usually hidden by shadow later in the day.
